VATICAN, May 28, 02 (CWNews.com) --
Pope John Paul II welcomed US President George W. Bush to the Vatican today, and the two spoke
 privately for about 20 minutes.
 Among the topics the two discussed were the war on terrorism, the Mideast peace process, concerns about the religious liberties of Catholics in Russia, and-- in a surprise development-- the sex-abuse scandal among American priests.
